On February 23 and 24, 2017, Joe Cleveland and Heath Coffman of Brackett & Ellis will be featured speakers at the 30th Annual Advanced Intellectual Property Course to take place in Austin, Texas. Mr. Coffman will be speaking on IP issues surrounding technology start-ups, which will include a discussion of trade secrets, non-competes and non-disclosure agreements. Joe Cleveland will join Herb Hammond of Thompson Knight to discuss TUTSA vs. DTSA – Should I Bring My Trade-Secret Case in State or Federal Court?
Joe Cleveland has practiced in the area of commercial and intellectual property litigation for over 20 years. He has tried civil cases in both state and federal courts and has successfully handled appeals before the United States Supreme Court and various federal courts of appeal. He assists clients in protecting intellectual property rights before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and the United States Copyright Office. Mr. Cleveland is Board Certified in Civil Trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization- a mark of excellence and distinguishing accomplishment achieved by fewer than 10% of practicing attorneys in Texas. Mr. Cleveland was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America by Woodward White from 2011-2016 for Commercial Litigation and from 2012-2016 for Intellectual Property Litigation.
Heath Coffman has significant experience representing a wide range of clients from individuals and small businesses to large publicly-traded companies in a variety of business and commercial cases and arbitrations. His practice also includes representing attorneys and accountants in professional liability cases and in grievance. Mr. Coffman is chair of the Trade Secrets Committee of the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Texas.
